Some of my friends and I working on creating the graphic for the next series for MissionCity. It’s great that as time goes on we are able to expand the number of people who are able to work on our graphics since each of us is skilled in a different way.

What I’ve Been Up To

Over the last few weeks I have been busy preparing promotional material for an event that my church is putting on for this summer. The event Is called Orlando Outreach and is patterned off of a similar event called Gainesville Outreach that occurs in Gainesville Florida, hence the name. I’ve managed to create poster graphics, so that the churches participating in the event will be able to raise awareness of the event, and I also made a promo video that highlights what happened at Gainesville Outreach last year and what prepare people for Orlando Outreach. We were able to use audio from sigur rós since they allow free use of their audio for videos as long as the video dosen’t become too big. I have really enjoyed being able to create graphics for this event since it has allowed me to create one cohesive feel and experiment with a new style. You can see the graphics for the poster and the video after the jump.

Creating A Creative Christian Community

I would like to preface this with the realization that this is not a step by step guide to instant community for christian artists, It is instead some thoughts that I have recently had concerning some of the characteristics that make up such a group. I believe that Christian community serves as an effective mechanism by which we can live missionaly and it is therefore important to think about what makes up such an environment. There is no doubt that I  will post more about this and other related topics as I think more on the issues, and some of my views may expand or change, but it is important to start somewhere. So without further ado here are some of my thoughts on the matter.

I have been doing a lot of thinking lately on the Idea of Christian Creatives and creating a community of such individuals.  I have often thought about such an group for multiple reasons. First of all, these groups, if done properly, can challenge the individuals in the group to live Christ centered lives, cause growth in the artistic ability of the group through shared knowledge, and provide a platform where non-christians can experience authentic Christian community through the shared love of art (in whatever form it takes). While these are all well and good they cannot be achieved unless the community is founded on the right principles. That is to say, just because you want these end results in a group does not mean that you are going to get them if the effort is not made on the front end to build a culture that will naturally form these traits.

Hello world!

So I’m restarting my Blog! After many months of my website suffering from disuse and getting swamped in spam I have decides to rebuild my website with a new aim and focus. I plan to use this website to post the work that I am doing for the internship that I am currently involved in with my church as well as the work I do in my free time that I want to share with others. The website is still in a state of flux as I work out all of the bugs that are in the theme but expect more posts from me on these things in the future.
